Girl allegedly raped and tortured in hotel room

LUCKNOW: A 22-year-old Ballia woman was allegedly raped and tortured for two days by a school teacher in a hotel in Hazratganj area. The victim lodged an FIR with the mahila thana after escaping from the hotel on Saturday morning. However, by the time cops reached the hotel, acting on the woman’s complaint, the accused had fled the place. Police are carrying out raids to nab him.

However, by the time cops reached the hotel, acting on the woman’s complaint, the accused had fled the place. Police are carrying out raids to nab him.

The victim told cops that she had eloped with one Bhagat Singh, resident of Kopaganj, Mau, from her house on March 22. She said that the man took her to a hotel in Ballia and first raped her there.

Singh, who is teacher in a private school at Mau, brought her to Lucknow on March 23, since when they were putting up at the Hazratganj hotel.

The girl alleged that Singh raped her multiple times in the hotel and also beat her up when she resisted. She said that she managed to escape when Singh went to sleep in the wee hours of Saturday. At first, she took shelter in a nearby temple and then approached the local police who took her to the mahila thana.

The police have registered an FIR under IPC sections 376 (for rape) and 323 (for voluntarily causing hurt).

The district police spokesman said that the victim had been sent for medical examination and her family in Ballia had been informed. “Further probe in the case is going on,” he said.
