-

LUCKNOW : A 55-year-old railway technician ended his life by setting himself ablaze inside Railway’s Diesel Shed workshop in Alambagh on Saturday afternoon. A group of employees staged protest after his death and alleged harassment by a senior official behind the victim’s suicide. A railway employee said the victim, Banke Lal, climbed up on 40ft running crane, poured petrol on his body and set himself ablaze before anybody could stop him. “Other employees tried to douse the fire and rushed him to a near-by railway indoor hospital where he was declared brought dead,” he said . The police said the victim had not left any suicide note nor had his family levelled allegation against any officer. CO Alambagh Amita Singh said the body had been sent for post-mortem examination but so far no FIR had been lodged in the matter.
