No drop in mercury likely, get set to brave heat
LUCKNOW: If the scorching heat has already started troubling you, be patient, for summer is in and there are no chances of respite in the coming days. The weatherman forecasts day temperatures to hover around 37-39 degrees Celsius in the next week.
It is only March and the mercury has already soared to 37 degrees, leaving people worried about the coming summer months.
JP Gupta, state met director said, “There have been western disturbances that have led to rise in temperatures. Since there is no possibility of cold winds or clouds in the next few days, the temperatures are likely to be high.”
On Saturday, Lucknow recorded a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius which was two degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 18.1 degrees Celsius, that was also two degrees above normal.
The day temperatures in the state capital had gone up to 37.5 degrees Celsisu on Friday which was 3 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature on Friday was recorded at 20.2 degrees Celsius that was 4 degrees above normal. In Banda, the day temperature was 41.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday .
Doctors have advised people to maintain adequate water intake during the change of season.
“Drinking water keeps the body hydrated which is necessary for organs to work properly,” said Dr Sandeep Kapoor, director Health city Trauma Centre and Superspeciality Hospital. He said that while leaving home one should have a glass of water.
