Chief minister Aditya Nath Yogi on Sunday gave a terse message to the state bureaucrats as well as the BJP leaders and workers.

“The state government will not tolerate any laxity in implementation of government schemes. Officers who can work 18-20 hours daily can continue with the government or else are free to leave,” he said.

This was Yogi’s first visit to Gorakhpur, his parliamentary constituency, after becoming chief minister. Addressing a meeting of MPs, MLAs, MLCs, party office-bearers and senior workers in the BJP district unit in Beniganj here, Yogi made it clear that fulfillment of promises made to the people during the assembly election will be top priority of the state government.

“I am a workaholic and the bureaucrats will have to deliver too. Those who are ready to work hard should continue and nonperformers should leave,” he said. He told BJP leaders and workers not to interfere in working of the state government and also not to put pressure on government officers for contracts.

“Only two years are left for the Lok Sabha election and party workers should start preparations for it. If they find any discrepancy in functioning of the state government they should inform me,” he said.

Stressing on coordination between the state government and party organization, Yogi said, “Workers should ensure that benefits of scheme reach the have-nots and the last man.”

He assured that girls from poor families will get monetary assistance for their marriages.

The CM, who was accorded a grand welcome at the BJP office by a large number of supporters, stressed that the huge mandate received by the party had increased its responsibility.

“The big victory has increased our responsibility. We have to move forward with hard work” Yogi said. Yogi also assured that his government will work to check migration of youths by helping them find jobs in their own areas.

Without mentioning the crackdown on slaughter houses and ‘anti-Romeo’ drive, he said his government had taken a historical decision after taking over the reins of the state government. “There is positive reaction from the people and my government will end the negativity to motivate the moral of the common people,” he said. The ministers should work with humility and not flaunt their position, Yogi added.
