A controversial BJP lawmaker from UP has claimed that he would break the limbs of people disrespecting and killing cows.“I had promised that I will break the hands and legs of those who feel pain in saying ‘Bharat mata ki jai’ and also those who do not consider cow as their mother and kill them,” said Khatauli MLA Vikram Saini.

BJP lawmaker from Uttar Pradesh has said he will break the limbs of people who disrespect and kill cows.

“I had promised that I will break the hands and legs of those who hesitate in saying ‘Vande Matram’, those who feel pain in saying ‘Bharat mata ki jai’ and also those who do not consider cow as their mother and kill them,” said Khatauli MLA Vikram Saini, while speaking at a function to felicitate UP minister Suresh Rana in Muzaffarpur, PTI reported.

“We are ready to fulfil the promise. We have a team of youth activists to take action against such persons,” he said.

Saini has also courted controversy before, having been jailed for making inflammatory speeches during the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots that killed more than 60 people and displaced thousands.

Since Yogi Adityanath took over as chief minister, several slaughterhouses have been shut and meat shops set on fire. Capital Lucknow is witnessing a strike by meat-sellers that has forced the city to go vegetarian.

“The government will not touch those (abattoirs) which are operating as per the provisions of law and have valid licence. But those which are violating the orders of the NGT and playing with the health of the public would not be spared...,” Adityanath had said.
