AS Vidyarthi, director IET said, “Around 20 students have ranked within the top 100. We have top scorers as well those who figure in the top five all-India ranks. The institute provided the students with adequate facilities, and the students, in turn, showed that through their results.”

Monti will now pursue M Tech in electronics and instrumentation from IIT Mumbai or the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. A native of Agra, he plans to go abroad for pursuing research after completing his M Tech course, before finally taking up his family’s favourite profession of teaching.

“My elder brother and sister are teachers at government schools. I too want to become a teacher. A neighbour of mine suggested that I should get into engineering and then do research in order to become a teacher. I am glad that I got the right guidance and am on the way to achieving my goal,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ashish is gearing up to pursue M Tech in civil engineering. A native of Muzaffarnagar and son of a retired police inspector, he has his eyes set on securing a government job.

Vipin Shukla, who is set to pursue M Tech in electronics and instrumentation, said he started preparing for GATE right from B Tech second year onwards. “IIT was my dream college and I wanted to get into it even for my graduation. However, I couldn’t crack the entrance back then. But soon after taking admission in IET, I got down to serious preparation in order to pursue my post graduation from IIT,” he said.

Talking about how he prepared for the test, Aligarh boy Abhishek Bharatdwaj said, “I started preparing during B Tech third year and put in 5-6 hours every day to qualify for M Tech and also secure a good rank. I will now pursue postgraduation in computer science.”

Another successful student Saurabh is all set to join IIT Mumbai. “My sister is pursuing M Tech in nano science there. I will soon be joining her,” he said with delight.
