:Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday stressed that under chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath, development would reach its peak in the state. He credited the BJP’s astounding victory in UP assembly polls to PM Narendra Modi and party workers.

Singh, who represents Lucknow in Lok Sahba, was in the city to attend a Holi Milan and party workers’ felicitation function organised by Rita Bahuguna Joshi, cabinet minister in the UP government, at DAV College ground.

The union home minister attended two more Holi Milan functions organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Samaj in Alambagh and at Government Inter College, organised by Ashutosh Tandon, cabinet minister in the state government.

Addressing the gathering at the DAV College ground, Singh said: “People of Uttar Pradesh have given a massive mandate to the BJP. Now, it is the responsibility of the party to fulfil their expectations .”

“It is due to the popularity of PM Narendra Modi and the hard work of party workers that the BJP has been able to get this historic mandate in ,” he said .

In the recently concluded UP assembly polls , the BJP bagged 312 seats and along with its allies, the tally went up to 324 seats.

Singh pointed out that even political pundits failed to predict such landslide victory for the BJP in UP assembly polls.

“Everyone was expecting the BJP to emerge as the single largest party in UP. No one could foresee such landslide victory for the party ,” he said .

The union home minister also asserted that after the BJP formed government at the Centre, India’s image in the international world had changed and now the international community viewed it as a powerful country.

Singh also was confident of the overall development of Uttar Pradesh under chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath .

“Development will be at its peak in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Yogi Aditya Nath,” he said .

“By next Holi, development work in UP will be clearly evident ,” he added.

Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma and cabinet minister Rita Bahuguna also addressed the gathering.

Earlier, at the function organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Samaj in Alambagh, Singh launched the community’s website.

At the last function organised at the Government Inter College, Nishatganj by Ashutosh Tandon, Singh said: “In the state governmen,t there are seven ministers from Lucknow. This has lessened my burden. Now, I am assured about Lucknow’s development.”

Out of nine assembly seats in the state capital, BJP won eight in the UP assembly polls.
