SECOND SET OF METRO TRAIN ARRIVES IN LUCKNOW
The second train set of Lucknow Metro arrived at Transport Nagar Metro Depot on Sunday morning. The trains, which are being manufactured by Alstom Transport India at their manufacturing plant at Sricity near Chennai, were transported through road with pilot vehicles.
Each train is loaded on a special 64 wheel trailer, which is fit to carry heavy loads of more than 80 tonnes like the coaches of trains. A 180 tonne crane was used to unload 40 tonne cars using a special spreader. A specialised safety team was present during the unloading of coaches at the depot. It took about 6 hours to unload all the four coaches that arrived from Chennai to Lucknow in 18 days, said an official of LMRC.
According to the official, the second train will also be used for testing of signalling system with multiple trains running in sections. Earlier RDSO successfully completed oscillation trials for Lucknow Metro in record time .
After completion of trials on line, test results are cross examined by RDSO before forwarding it to the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety(CMRS). The RDSO is expected to forward it to ministry of railway safety. Complete test reports along with detailed safety examination report based on separately conducted inspection on site by CMRS are then forwarded to the Ministry of Railways for approval.
