GOVT FINALISES RULES FOR DECLARING MOVABLE ASSETS

-

The state government has finalised fresh rules requiring IAS officers to submit details of movable assets earned by them, their spouse and dependent children till March 15, 2017. Details of immovable assets will also have to be given.

The movable assets will include cash in banks, shares, mutual funds, similar investments, jewellery, vehicles etc. A pro forma has been prepared for this purpose. It will be made available on the website of the department of appointment and personnel shortly. “After much deliberation, it was decided that IAS officers too should be asked to submit the details on movable property to the government,” a senior official in the department of appointment and personnel told HT. The IAS officers do submit their property details on the DoPT’s website in January every year but they only reveal immovable assets like house, plots but not the movable assets. They are required to declare movable assets, as well as the immovable property once at the time of joining the service.

The IAS officers had resisted the move to have them declare their movable assets earlier.

“Yes, bureaucrats including the IPS had opposed the move but service conduct rules in UP require all government employees, including the IAS, IPS and PCS officers, to declare their movable as well as immovable property,” said the official.

Chief secretary Rahul Bhatnagar has asked all the state government staff and PCS officers to declare their movable and immovable assets.
