UP to promote regional dialects

Chief minister Aditya Nath Yogi on Sunday said the state government will launch a drive across Uttar Pradesh to promote regional dialects, including Bhojpuri, Awadhi, Braj, Bundelkhandi and Sindhi, with the assistance of Hindustani Academy, Allahabad.

The state government will work to promote folk traditions and the regional dialects in order to take the rich legacy of Indian saints to the common people and break caste barriers, he said. Yogi was speaking at a programme held to mark the death anniversary of Gambhir Nath, former mahant (head priest) of Gorakhnath Mutt. Eulogising the Hindu saints, he said, “They did not bow before kings like Alexander during the ancient period. During the medieval period, Tulsi Das turned down Akbar’s proposal and said Ram was his king.” “In the medieval period, the Mughal army attacked the Gorakhnath mutt, seized its property and committed atrocities on sadhus. Gambhir Nath and Digvijay Nath restored the glory of the mutt. These days, the mutt is working in the education, health and social sectors,” he said.

‘YOGI’S APPOINTMENT HAS PAVED WAY FOR RAM TEMPLE’

A Hindu saint has claimed the appointment of Aditya Nath Yogi as chief minister “has paved the way for construction of the Ram temple” in Ayodhya.

“The saints of the Nath Panth, to which Aditya Nath belongs, have supported the Ram Janmabhoomi movement,” said Suresh Das of the Digambar Akhara, a Hindu monastic order, at the programme attended by the chief minister to mark the death anniversary of Gambhir Nath. He also raised the issue of Krishna Janmabhoomi at Mathura and Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi. “Construction of the Ram temple is a must for the development of UP,” he said.

CM SAID THE UP GOVT WILL TRY TO TAKE THE RICH LEGACY OF THE INDIAN SAINTS TO THE COMMON PEOPLE.
