MLAs welcome CM’s order to keep off contracts
Twelve MPs and 64 MLAs from Gorakhpur and its adjoining regions who attended a meeting with chief minister Aditya Nath ‘Yogi’ here welcomed his instruction not to interfere in government work and avoid any involvement in contracts.
“This is a welcome step and legislators need to follow it. It’s sad that some public representatives used to be involved in contracts in previous governments. People have elected us as their representatives, not contractors. Such works should be left to the departments concerned.” five-term Gorakhpur Rural MLA Radha Mohan Dass Aggarwal said.
Campyarganj MLA Fateh Bahadur Singh, who has been appointed pro tem speaker, echoed similar sentiments
“It’s a very good decision which should be followed by all legislators. The last government lost the election because its leaders made huge money by involving themselves in mining and other contracts,” Bahadur told Hindustan Times over the phone.
Bipin Singh , a close aide of the CM, and Gorakhpur Urban MLA said: “We all welcome Yogiji’s order which is in the interest of common people. We have come here to ensure development and not to use our powers to carry out posting, transfers and get involved in contracts.”
