KEY MOMENTS: DAY 2

A brief summary of how Day Two of the fourth Test between India and Australia panned out in Dharamsala.

HAZLEWOOD AND VIJAY HAVE A GO AT EACH OTHER

Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood was in the midst of a probing spell in the morning. India opener Murali Vijay played and missed on a couple of occasions, frustrating the Australia fast bowler. In the 10th over, after Vijay defended a full delivery back to Hazlewood, the bowler threatened to throw it back at the batsman. Vijay smiled and proceeded to bat on. However, the bowler had the last laugh as he managed to disturb Vijay’s concentration and get rid of him for 10 a few minutes later.

RENSHAW SLIPS UP, TWICE

For Matt Renshaw, Day 2 was even more miserable. He dropped KL Rahul on 10 at first slip. The day only got worse towards the end when he dropped Wriddhiman Saha on 9, the unlucky bowler again being Cummins.

FINALLY A DRS

The Dharamsala Test was remarkable for not a single DRS being taken on day 1. However, on Day Two, Sunday, the trend continued until the 76th over of the innings, 165.3 overs in the match, when the first review was taken.

RAHANE AND THREE SHORT BALLS

Ajinkya Rahane looked to attack the bowling. Rahane first tried a ramp a short off Cummins. Cummins delivered another short ball which Rahane pulled to deep mid wicket for four. On the third bouncer, Rahane went for an ungainly slog, top-edging it to third man for six.

FIFTH TIME UNLUCKY

Before the India vs Australia series, KL Rahul had four tons and one fifty. Now, he has six fifties and four tons. His scores in this series read 64, 10, 90, 51, 67 and 60. Each time when he has looked good for a century, he has disappointed. In Dharamsala, after racing to fifty, Rahul was undone by a pacy short ball from Cummins, which he could only toe-end to be caught at mid-off by David Warner. However, it has not been a bad series as Rahul still averages 57 with an innings yet to play.
