Lakshya’s half-century helps CMCCA score win

LUCKNOW: Lakshya Tewari smashed a fine half-century, while Saarthi and Prince Maurya took three wickets each as CMS Cricket Academy notched up a facile 80-run win against National Cricket Club in a league match of the Yorker Trophy Under-14 Cricket Tournament, at the Lucknow Christian College ground here on Sunday.

Lakshya’s 64-ball 86, contained nine hits to the fence and six sixes as CMSCA piled up 166 in 38.4 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Suiraj Yadav took four for 37 for NCC, whereas Abhishek Sharma had two for 11.

In reply, National Cricket Club despite having a good start, lost the plot in the midway and could make 86 for nine in 40 overs. Naman made highest 18. Saarthi took three for eight, whereas Prince Maurya had three for 20.

BUDDIES IN SEMIS

Cricket Buddies notched up a convincing eight-wicket win against Microlit XI to make it to the semi-finals of the Samual Banerjee Memorial Veterans Cricket Tournmanet, at the Microlit Ground here on Sunday.

After restrictin­g Microlit XI for 127 for six in 20 overs while fielding first after winning the toss, Cricket Buddies romped home in 15.1 overs, mlosing two wickets.

Opener Adil remained top scorer with an unbeaten 51, which came off 45 balls with the help of seven fours. Jaidev Bisht (32*) and Jitendra Sharma (24) were other run getters.

Veteran Devendra Bajpai emereged victorious in the open category of the Sunday Open Chess Tournament here on Sunday.

In the fourth round Devendra Bajpai (4.5 pts) defeated Sanjay Singh in Knight ending and split the point with Mohit Singh in the fifth round. Mohit finished second, whereas Arjun Singh came third. In the under-16 category Ayush won, whereas R Krishna stood first in the under-12 category.
