ALLAHABAD : A nationwide yagya (Hindu religious ritual) will begin at Ayodhya on Tuesday for construction of a Ram temple there.

Named the Yajurveda Parayan Yagya, the ritual will be performed in 624 districts across 29 states over a period of three years, said Acharya Swami Dineshanand Saraswati, the founder of the Vedic Prayog Praman Vyas, a religious organisation based in Lucknow with an office in Faizabad.

Swami Dineshanand told HT in Allahabad the yagya will be performed every third day in a different district for the next three years.

About 1,000 devotees, including schoolchildren, will participate in the yagya for which the Faizabad police and district administration have made security arrangements at the venue, Swami Dineshanand said.

He said, “The main objective of Yajurveda Parayan Yagya is for Ram temple. The other objective is to spread the knowledge of the Vedas and control air pollution.”

“The first Yajurveda Parayan Yagya will be performed in a big ‘havan kund’ (fire altar) measuring 3x3x3 feet at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Tulsi Nagar, Ayodhya. The yagya will begin at 9am. A minimum of 11,000 ahutis (offerings) of havan samagri, pure ghee and milk will be made during the yagya amid the chanting of Vedic mantras,” he said.

The seer was earlier in the news for having made a huge ‘havan kund’ measuring 27x27x27 feet at the Vishwa Hindu Parishad camp during the Magh Mela 2017 at Allahabad for Ram temple. Over 20.41 lakh offerings were made in this havan kund.

Swami Dineshanand said offerings made to a fire altar rapidly transformed into beneficial gases, which cleaned the air and the environment.

“We have plans to construct a havan kund measuring 54x54x54 feet for performing yagya at the Magh Mela in 2021. The target is to offer 51.40 crore ahutis in this havan kund, which will be the largest on the world. About Rs 2.5 crore is expected to be spent on this project,” he said.
