CIMAP develops antiacne face wash and gel
LUCKNOW: The Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) has developed yet another herbal product. This time the institute has developed a face wash that has an Aloe Verabased herbal formulation to control acne and an acne-cure gel.
“Acne is mainly caused by the anaerobic bacteria Propionibacterium acnes. The acne gel is active against the bacteria and also against a wide range of microorganisms causing or supporting acne,” said AK Tripathi, director CIMAP.
The product was launched during CIMAP annual day function held on Monday. The team involved in the development of these herbal formulations included Dinesh Kumar, Sudha Agarwal, Priyanka Singh, D Saikia, NP Yadav, Anirbal Pal, MP Darokar, Karuna Shanker, Puja Khare, CS Chinotia, Alok Kalra, Ajit K Shasaney, S Tandon, AK Gupta, Priyam Sinha, S Lukman, D Chanda, Ateek Ahmad and Rakesh Pandey.
A special function was organized at CIMAP to mark its annual day. Padma Bhushan Prof Govindarajan Padmanaban, former director, Indian Institute of Sciences, Bengaluru, was the chief guest and he delivered a lecture on ‘Curcumin from turmerica wonder drug in waiting’. Prof Padmanaban told that artesunate and curcumin combination has been found to be promising in treating cerebral malaria.
Sant Sanganeria, founder chairman and MD, Ultra International Ltd, New Delhi was the guest of honour. He also announced an annual award of Rs5 lakhs per annum for five years to be given to five brilliant scientists involved in novel development in science and tech.
