Youth held for stalking girl, applying vermillion on her forehead

LUCKNOW: A youth was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stalking a girl in Hasanganj and putting vermillion in the parting of her hair forcibly. He allegedly even kidnapped her nephew and later released him, threatening the girl against approaching the police.

The accused, Himanshu Tiwari ,was arrested from his home town in Chandauli after he was tracked down through electronic surveillance. He was missing since the girl lodged an FIR against him for kidnapping her nephew on Sunday. Earlier, she had also lodged the FIR for stalking and voluntarily causing hurt on March 22. Both the FIRs were registered with Hasanganj police .

Inspector of Hasanganj police station Udai Veer Singh, said the youth lived here in a rented house and was stalking the girl for the past few months. He said the girl was avoiding him and approached the police when he forcibly put vermillion on her forehead, declaring that now she was married to him. Moreover, he also slapped her when she tried to resist his move, he added.

The inspector said the youth’s highhandedness could be gauged from the fact that he kidnapped the girl’s nephew when the latter was returning home from IT College crossing on Sunday. He said the youth later released him after two hours and fled, leaving him near Mankameshwar temple. He said the police would also invoke Goonda Act against the youth.
