Engg colleges in for makeover: Minister
Changing the image of state run technical universities and both government and private engineering colleges is among the top priorities of the Yogi Adityanath government.
And to ensure that engineering graduates from the state are suitably employed, the government has asked the officials to hold ‘job fairs’ next 90 days.
Directions to this effect were issued by UP’s technical education minister Ashutosh Tandon ‘Gopal’ during his review meeting with vice chancellors of state run technical universities as well as directors of engineering colleges and polytechnic colleges in the state on Friday.
The minister said the government would lay emphasis on job placement.
These ‘employment fairs’ in which several top companies will participate are meant to create employment opportunities for state’s engineering passouts.
State’s technical universities and engineering colleges too are in for a makeover with Tandon asking the officials to ensure that all engineering colleges have wi fi facility as well as e-libraries.
Virtual classes too have been promised to ensure maximum students benefit from lectures by renowned faculty from home and abroad.
“The recruitment process to fill up 500 teaching positions too would soon get underway,” the minister said adding that in 100 days the impact of government efforts would be seen.
The minister also said that of the 126 government polytechnic institutes, 40 were functioning out of rented premises.
“Efforts would be made to provide them their own buildings. We would try to ensure that at least 10 of them begin operating from their own campus,” he said adding modernisation of polytechnics too was on the cards.
