The number of examination centres debarred in the state during the ongoing high school and Intermediate examinations of UP Board reached 91 on Thursday but it is not the end.

According to additional secretary of the board, a significant number of examination centres could face the same action in the next few days following reports of mass copying.

“The number of examination centres being debarred for a period of five years due to reported mass copying is excessively high this year as compared to previous years. It has already touched 91 and could well cross the 100 mark in next few days. We are closely monitoring proceedings of every examination,” he said.

On Friday, in the mathematics examination of Intermediate, 65 examinees were caught using unfair means in different districts of the state.

It may be mentioned that on March 28, the Board had issued the first list of 10 examination centres that had been debarred due to reported mass copying while the second list of 47 such centres was issued on March 31.

Further on April 6, the third list of 34 more such centres was issued thus reaching the total tally of 91.

However, orders have been issued for screening of answer sheet of examination of different subjects at 61 schools to assess mass copying.
