Mohsin, Shivam guide MCA enter JKP Trophy semi-finals

A sparkling century by Mohsin Khan and a three-wicket haul by Shivam Sharma helped Moradabad Cricket Associatio­n score a thrilling six-run win against Meerut Cricket Associatio­n to make it to the semi-finals of the 3rd JKP Trophy State Cricket Tournament in memory of Jitendra Kumar Pandey here on Friday. At the Ekana Sports City Internatio­nal Cricket Stadium pitch coming to bat at No six Mohsin dominated Meerut bowlers, hitting an unbeaten 70, which came off just 44 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes as Moradabad managed 193 for seven in stipulated 40 overs after being sent to bat first.

Wasiq Raza (31) and Abhishek Chaudhary (25) were other key run getters. For Meerut side, Ankur Chauhan (3 for 21) and Deepak Baliyan (2 for 33) excelled with red cherry. In reply, Meerut Cricket Associatio­n despite having a solid start could make 187 for eight in 40 overs. Once they were 91 for one in 19.5 overs and a win looked certain for them, but Shivam Sharma’s three for 30 changed their fortunes. Mohsin took two for 39.

DIPANSHU SHINES

A superb century by Dipanshu Pal helped Aryavart Cricket Academy (ACA) notch up an emphatic 173-run win against ASCA ‘Blue’ to collect full points in the Yorker Trophy Under-14 Cricket Tournament, at the Lucknow Christian College Ground here on Friday.

LDACC TRIUMPH

LDA Coaching Centre (LDACC) collected full points in the Bimla Rani Memorial Under-16 Cricket league, defeating Arya Cricket Academy (ACA) by 96 runs, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here on Friday. BRIEF SCORES LDACC 178 for 8 in 30 overs (S Mitra 52*, Arbaaz 31, Arvind 27, Bhaskar Dixit 2 for 15, Dharamraj 2 for 24) beat ACA 82 in 26.1 overs (Chandan Rai 4 for 20, Ankit Pal 3 for 31).

SELECTION TRIALS

The 15th Senior National Soft Tennis Championsh­ip is due to be held from May 11 to 15 at Patiala in Punjab. Trials to pick up Uttar Pradesh men and women teams will be held on April 19 and 20, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here at 9.00 a.m. More details can be had from Deepak Chawla, secretary of the UPASTA.
