Family held hostage, robbed of cash, valuables worth lakhs

At least four armed miscreants looted cash and valuables worth several lakhs after holding a couple and their two kids hostage in their house in Indira Nagar locality here on Sunday-Monday intervenin­g night.

The miscreants attacked the man with rods when he tried to resist them.

The incident took place with Jai Shankar Maurya, a technician in Tata Motors, when he and other family members were sleeping inside the house in Amrai locality of Indira Nagar at around 1.30am.

Maurya told the cops that at least four miscreants armed with rods and canes sneaked into the house by scaling the boundary wall and barged into a room where he was sleeping with his family.

He said the miscreants held them hostage after waking them up and hit him on head with a road when he shouted for help.

He said the miscreants forcibly took keys of locker threatenin­g to harm the children. He said they took away cash and valuables worth several lakh.

He said the miscreants stayed for over one hour and ransacked the entire house. The miscreants locked the family in a room before fleeing from the spot. They were freed by a neighbor when he heard their screams on Monday morning.

SSP Manzil Saini along with other senior officials rushed to the spot after getting informatio­n about the incident. A team of forensic experts and a dog squad was also called for spot examinatio­n but the police have failed to get any clue about the miscreants till last reports came in.
