A man torn between two women is often considered the most hapless. But an auto rickshaw driver here came out of the dilemma unscathed, as both his lady loves, one his legally wedded wife and the other his paramour, agreed to ‘share’ him. They gave a written ‘arrangement’ to the police, according to which the man would spend one day with his wife and the next with the paramour. His earnings would be shared the same way.

Brajesh Kumar Pandey, in charge of Sikandra police station said he could not do anything as none of the women was ready to lodge a complaint.

Rakesh (name changed), an auto rickshaw driver who lives in Shastri Puram colony, often ferried a woman to Sanjay Place where she worked. The woman was separated from her husband, albeit not legally, and lived with an eight-year-old child.

As she travelled frequently in Rakesh’s auto rickshaw, the two struck a friendship and later fell in love.

They also got married despite the fact that Rakesh had been married for seven years and had two kids.

Rakesh’s wife could not be fooled for long and when she found out, there was a terrible scene, forcing Rakesh to sever all ties with his beloved.

Not to take things lying down, the ‘other woman’ searched for Rakesh and found him on Tuesday night, virtually dragging him out of the clutches of his wife. The drama on the road brought police to the scene and all three, including Rakesh, his wife and beloved were taken to the police station. However, neither of the women was prepared to leave Rakesh.

“I asked Rakesh’s wife to file a complaint against him for re-marrying despite being married but she did not. All three went out of the police station and returned with the ‘arrangement’ in writing. They signed the arrangement, giving in writing that Rakesh would spend one day with his wife and the next day with the beloved,” said Pandey.

The trio also agreed that the woman with whom Rakesh would be on a particular day would keep that day’s earnings.
