Admission under RTE through lottery on April 18

-

LUCKNOW: Come April 18 and fate of around 6000 children aspiring for admission in private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act would be decided.

This is the first time the state has decided to go online with the RTE admission process wherein applications were filed online and allocation of schools would also be done online. The applications received offline have been uploaded on the website for the online admission process.

RTE crusader Samina Bano who has been working with the state government for RTE admissions said, “Around 16,000 applications have been received for admissions under the RTE across the state. Since the procedure is online this time, the details of schools, number of seats available for RTE admissions, preferences of the parents etc have been uploaded online. During the online lottery, school allocations would be done and SMS would be sent to the parents that their child has been allotted a school and they can visit the school for formalities.” Since the entire process is online this time, it would help avoid any kind of discrepancies and there would be complete transparency, said Bano.

In Lucknow alone, more than 6500 registrations have been done for admissions under RTE. Once the admission process starts from April 18, the next round of lottery would be done and school allocation would be done. The first lottery would be done in 27 districts. The process is much like the counselling process of colleges wherein students fill in their preferences and allotments are done as per availability of seats in the schools of their preference.
