Vigilance receives order to register FIR against DIoS
The state vigilance wing received formal orders from the home department on Tuesday regarding registration of FIR against district inspector of schools (DIoS), Umesh Tripathi in disproportionate assets case.
The home department officials’ order regarding the FIR was received by vigilance officers on Tuesday afternoon while they had filed an affidavit in the court on Monday, claiming that the FIR was already filed against the DIoS in the matter.
The affidavit filed in the court created confusion among senior officials as the vigilance wing had not received the order to register FIR against Tripathi till Monday night.
A senior vigilance official said the order related to FIR registration was received at 12.15 pm on Tuesday and the FIR was not lodged till last reports came in on Tuesday night.
SSP Lucknow Manzil Saini confirmed that so far no FIR was lodged by the vigilance wing in the matter.
The inquiry regarding disproportionate assets of Umesh Tripathi was pending with the vigilance wing since a Jaunpur resident Bal Chand sought open vigilance inquiry against the latter in 2012.
The inquiry remained pending until a petition was filed in the high court in November 2016 seeking disposal of the case.
The vigilance wing submitted their inquiry report within five months after intervention of the high court and sought permission for registering of FIR under section of prevention of corruption act against Tripathi.
The vigilance report claimed that Tripathi was found guilty of accumulating wealth more than his income.
