Housing minister ‘digs out’ details of restoration work
Pasi seeks details of expenditure incurred on restoration work carried out during previous regime
Minister of state for housing in the Yogi government, Suresh Pasi undertook an inspection of iconic structures in the heritage zone on Tuesday and sought details of the expenditure incurred on restoration work carried out here during the SP regime.
Pasi arrived at the stretch of road near Satkhanda and inquired about the cobble stones used in laying road in heritage zone. LDA officials informed him that these stones had been sourced from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and a total of Rs 6.30 crore was spent on laying cobblestone road in the heritage zone.
The minister went to Satkhanda and climbed up the tower followed by LDA officials.
BP Maurya, executive engineer, in-charge of the heritage zone project, apprised the minister that Rs 1.20 crore had been spent on restoration work of Satkhanda.
After inspecting the road, the minister went straight to the Clock Tower and inquired about it. LDA officials told him that Rs 1.37 crore had been spent on restoration work of Clock Tower.
Locals present there informed the minister that only peripheral restoration work, which included painting of the Clock Tower, had been carried out.
A swing for children had also been installed in the heritage zone.
When the minister came to know that its cost was Rs 2.5 crore, he asked his assistant to take note of it.
Pasi also inquired about the huge LED screen and fancy electricity poles installed in the heritage zone. Two public toilets, each costing Rs 45 lakh, also came under the minister’s scanner.
On April 15, Pasi had climbed 18 floors of the under-construction JPNIC building for inspection. To recall, the state government had ordered a probe into the dream projects of the previous Samajwadi Party government in the state capital.
Pasi had been entrusted the responsibility of unearthing alleged anomalies in the JPNIC, Janeshwar Misra Park and heritage zone projects.
