‘RUN FOR HEART’: DR TREHAN

Recipient of Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, cardiovasc­ular surgeon Dr Naresh Trehan encouraged the citizens of Allahabad to keep their heart healthy by participat­ing in ‘Run for Heart’ race, on Sunday.

The race started from Vashishtha Vatsalya Public School Civil Lines and after passing through Hanumat Niketan, Subhash Crossing, Yatrik crossing, Company Garden concluded on the school’s premises.

Noted cardiologi­sts from Medanta-The Medicity Dr Rajneesh Kapoor and Dr Manish Bansal also participat­ed in the race. They motivated the students and citizens to take up physical activity on regular basis for a healthy mind and body.

Later, addressing the gathering, Dr Naresh Trehan said with yoga, meditation and different exercises one could lead a fit and healthy life. “Prevention of diseases is always better than cure. A body is doing millions of tasks at the same time. The harmony between mind and body is also very important. Discipline, balanced diet and lots of exercise are the key to good health,” he added. Directors of Vatsalya Hospital Dr Neeraj Agarwal and Dr Kirtika Agarwal also spoke on the occasion. A total 2,445 students and citizens participat­ed in the race.

First 151 winners were given certificat­es and consolatio­n prize. Run for Heart race was jointly organized by Vatsalya Hospital, Nursing Home Associatio­n, Rotary Club, Civil Lines Vyapar Mandal etc. Also present on the occasion were Dr Akash Puri, Praveen Malaviya, Adesh Goel, Vipul Mittal etc.
