October 2012: Two recovery notices against Umesh Tripathi were issued for disbursing salaries to the tune of Rs 3.34 lakh to teachers appointed by him fraudulently. He allegedly appointed three teachers in an inter college during his posting as Ballia DIoS in 2008.

March 2012: Tripathi created a controversy by registered an FIR alleging theft of important documents from his office. He had named a Class IV employee of his office, accusing him of stealing the documents after breaking the lock of his office room.

February 2012: Tripathi registered FIR against an Ayurveda college clerk for extortion. Police probe later revealed that the DIoS’ allegations were false. The state vigilance wing had recently lodged an FIR of prevention of corruption act against Tripathi.
