Body of ex-IAS officer’s son found

The body of the 30-year old son of a former IAS officer was recovered from the banks of river Gomti near 1090 crossing on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Saurabh Tripathi, son of ex-IAS officer Tirathraj Tripathi, a resident of Viram Khand, Gomti Nagar.

According to cops, Tirathraj had informed the cops on emergency number 100 on Sunday night about his son missing when he did not return home till late in the night.

On Monday morning, Saurabh’s body was spotted floating in the Gomti near the river front. After getting informatio­n, cops reached the spot and fished out the body.

Tirathraj reached the spot after cops informed him and identified it as of his son, Saurabh.

Cops apprehende­d that probably late on Sunday night Saurabh committed suicide by jumping in the Gomti .

He was a bright student and had done BTech, MBA and was preparing for civil services. According to family members, Saurabh was under much pressure to qualify for the civil services and was under depression.

Saurabh’s brother is in the US, sister is an Uttarakhan­d cadre officer and his sister-inlaw is an IPS officer.

According to family members, Saurabh was under immense pressure to excel like his siblings. Unable to cope with the pressure, he committed suicide.
