TWO OTHER TERROR SUSPECTS REMANDED IN POLICE CUSTODY

-

LUCKNOW:The UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) will cross-question all four terror suspects who were arrested from different parts of the country on Thursday after a city court on Tuesday allowed four-day police custody remand of the two suspects, Nazim arrested from Mumbai (Maharashtra) and Ghazi Baba arrested from Jalandhar (Punjab).

Two others, Mufti alias Faizan arrested from Bijnore (UP) and Zaqwan alias Ehtesham arrested from Narkatiyaganj (Bihar) are already in eight-day remand since Saturday.

They are the members of selfradicalised terror module busted in joint operation by the ATS with the help of police teams of five other states. The suspects were allegedly planning to execute some major terror operation in the west UP and other parts of the country.

“Faizan and Ehtesham have revealed several startling facts during interrogation but still they have not answered anything about funds for terror activities. They stated that Nazim and Ghazi Baba know about it. As the court has also allowed the remand of Nazim and Ghazi Baba, the two others will be made to face each other and cross questioned over terror funding,” said a senior ATS official. He said the suspects will also be questioned about other people who were in touch with them .

He said the suspects’ call details suggested that they were in touch with at least 20 more people and also interacted with some people in Gulf countries. He said they would be questioned about it. The official said the court of special chief judicial magistrate Azad Singh allowed the police custody remand of Nazim and Ghazi Baba from Wednesday. They will be taken into custody from Lucknow district jail and quizzed at the ATS police station in Gomti Nagar.
