Muz’nagar mourns death of its son

MUZAFFARNA­GAR : A pall of gloom descended on Muzaffarna­gar’s Neergajani village whose son Manoj Kumar died in an attack by suspected Maoist militants in Sukma on Monday.

Manoj, 25, was deployed as CRPF head constable in the 74th battalion.

As many as 25 paramilita­ry personnel had lost their lives in the attack on the battalion deputed for the security of workers engaged in the constructi­on of Chintalnaa­r –Dornapaal state highway.

Manoj’s grieving mother Rajesh Devi demanded the government to take strict action against the attackers.

Family sources said Manoj had joined CRPF in 2011 and after serving in Chandigarh, Delhi and Srinagar for a short period, he was sent to Chhattisga­rh in 2012 and since then he was deployed in the 74th battalion.

He was the third among his eight siblings and he was taking care of the education of his younger brother and sisters.

He himself had passed his high school and intermedia­te from Janta Inter College, Bhopa.

Around a month ago, he had come to his village on a 15-day leave and was recently promoted to the post of head constable.

Many politician­s, including union minister Sanjeev Balyan, former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Ashok Kansal, BJP leader Dr Veerpal Nirwal, district president of RLD Ajit Rathi went to Manoj’s residence to pay tributes.

SDM Jansath Umesh Mishra, SP rural Vineet Bhatnagar also met the bereaved family.
