Chief minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to hold a meeting of DMs, SPs and CMOs of all 75 districts of the state to review the progress of government schemes and projects soon.

In the meeting, the district officers are likely to be told to implement schemes and projects launched by the state government on schedule. The CM is also likely to direct police officers to improve law and order in the state.

Adityanath has planned to hold the meeting after transfer of the district magistrates and the superintendents of police of majority of districts. Some 154 IAS officers and 66 IPS officers have already been shifted.

Presentations of most of the state government departments are likely to be completed this week. During the presentations, Yogi gave directions to the officers of various departments about the launch of new schemes.

They were also told to complete the projects within the stipulated time. The officers will have to present a report in the chief minister’s office on the progress of various projects. The CM has also said that he will visit districts to take stock of the projects at the ground level.

Addressing a meeting in Gorakhpur on March 26, Adityanath had made it clear that officers will have to work for 18 hours a day. “The officers who are unable to perform should leave the government job,” he had said. Sources said Yogi has decided to do a monthly appraisal of all the administrative and police officers. Action will be taken against the non- performers.

“The election manifesto of the party-- Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra--is the Bible of the new government. The state government is committed to fulfilling the promises it has made to the people in the manifesto,” said a senior BJP leader. Several officers are seen carrying the manifesto and some are busy studying it as well.

On law and order front, the police officers have been told to crack down on gangs of criminals and Mafiosi.

The officers have been directed to launch drives against the gangs involved in illegal mining, liquor smuggling, timber smuggling, gun running and land grabbing.

Yogi has said improvement in law and order would be his top priority.

He has also told the members of the saffron brigade not to take law into their hand. The police officers have been directed to take action against the nuisance maker irrespective of their party affiliations.

After the CM’s order, new UP DGP, Sulkhan Singh, said the police will not permit vigilantism by ‘gau rakshak’ groups. The anti-Romeo squad has been directed not to send errant youths to jail but to summon their parents to police stations and counsel the youths.
