LUCKNOW: It seems to be a fresh start for the Cricket Association, Lucknow, (CAL) in the city as the game’s body rolled out a detailed programme for game’s overall development on Thursday.

Summer camp for already selected under-16 and under-19 cricketers will be on top of the priority of the CAL as it focuses on adequate preparations of boys ahead of the state trials scheduled to be held at Kanpur in May-June. In the first phase, the focus will be on spinners and fast bowlers.

All the former Ranji Trophy cricketers have been asked to extend their support to the CAL for the training of the players as well as to create a positive atmosphere for the betterment of the game.

“Yes, we want to start a fresh as we are committed for many developments programmes for the benefits to the cricket and the cricketers in the town,” CAL’s acting secretary Gopal Singh told HT on Thursday.

“Besides conveying a meeting of all cricket academies soon to sort out their problems, if any, we also have plans to conduct summer cricket league for all age category cricketers.”

“From now onwards, the data bank of every cricketers’ performance in local cricket would be prepared, and we want a sense of discipline in all the teams, especially during the events,” said Gopal, who has been handling CAL’s issue after its secretary-general KM Khan went on three months leave for personal reasons last week.

He, however, accepted that winning back the confidence of all 100 plus units of the CAL would be the biggest task for him in near future.

“Over 50 units have yet to renew their registrations due to
