3 held for Atala cow slaughter, booked under Gangster Act
ALLAHABAD : Khuldabad police nabbed three of the accused involved in slaughtering a cow at Atala graveyard on Friday night. The arrested accused was a member of a gang, which used to steal and slaughter cattle for consumption. Four other accomplices of the accused are still at large.
Inspector Khuldabad, Sanjay Singh said Mohd Rashid alias Monu, Mohd Nafees and Taufiq were arrested in separate raids on Sunday. They were part of a seven-member gang, which used to slaughter stolen cattle and then sell the meat for consumption. They had stolen the cow from Atarsuiya area and slaughtered it at Atala graveyard. However, they fled after some residents of the area reached the scene. They will be booked under serious sections, including Gangster Act. Raids are on to nab the remaining four accused who may had fled the city, Singh added. It may be mentioned that tension had prevailed in Atala area of the old city after carcass of a slaughtered cow was found on Saturday morning. Activists of a saffron organisations had also reached Atala police outpost and demanded early arrest of the accused
PAN SELLER SHOT DEAD BY BROTHER
A paan shop owner was shot dead, allegedly by his elder brother and his accomplices, near Civil Lines bus station late on Saturday night.
The motorcycle-borne assailants fled the scene before the other traders could catch them. As per reports, resident of Shahganj, Mahendra Chaurasia, 38, used to run a paan shop near Civil Lines bus station.
