CM: Govt will not differenti­ate between ‘teeka’ and ‘topi’

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has assured the people of the state that his government would not differenti­ate between ‘teeka’ and ‘topi.’ He also said no concession­s will be given to anyone on religious grounds.

Speaking at a function by a news channel here on Friday, he said nobody needed to be scared under his regime. But he advised ‘some people’ to change their old habits. “We will do developmen­t of all but appeasemen­t of none,” he stressed.

He said his government would not allow cow slaughter and cowsmuggli­ng at any cost but warned the ‘gau rakshaks’ against taking law into their hands in the name of saving cows. All such elements, he said, would be dealt with sternly. “Complain to the police if there is a case of cow smuggling and cow slaughter. We will also soon launch a helpline for that purpose,” he said.

He also said some genuine ‘gau rakshaks’s were doing a good job and they must be appreciate­d for that. He said some people wearing saffron scarf were trying to defame the government. “We advise them to hold on as we are going launch a state-wide drive to identify pseudo ‘gau rakshaks’ and take action against them,” he said. On law and order, he said his government was committed to ending the ‘jungle raj’ in UP and work in this regard had already begun. “Every section of the society would be feeling safe and secure everywhere in the state by the time I present my government’s report card on completion of 100 days in power in June end,” the CM claimed. He claimed his government would save at least Rs 12000-15000 crore year by plugging in wasteful expenditur­es to fund government’s welfare schemes. The CM said his government would provide 70 lakh jobs to people in next five years.

LIQUOR BAN

The CM gave no direct answer when asked if he was contemplat­ing banning liquor sale in UP like Nithish Kumar did in Bihar. “Just wait and watch, we will do everything that is in the interest of the state,” he said.

CLEANLINES­S ON CARDS

Regretting that UP’s cities had got poor rating in cleanlines­s, the CM said, We are launching a drive from tomorrow in this regard and the cleanlines­s drive will begin with slums in Lucknow.
