Union minister for urban development M Venkaiah Naidu reviewed implementation of central schemes here on Friday. During the review, the previous Samajwadi Party government came in for flak for ‘not cooperating with the centre’. He declared that the Yogi Adityanath regime will usher in change in the state.

Uttar Pradesh may now get the centre’s nod for many new projects. Besides, the implementation of metro rail projects, including the Lucknow Metro, is expected to be expedited.

Apart from a rapid transit system between Delhi and Meerut, the new projects are likely to include new FM stations, live telecast of state assembly proceedings and some departments of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune.

“UP has been lagging behind in implementation of central schemes. But things have changed now. The centre and state government want to work in cooperation with each other. India cannot move forward without UP,” Naidu said at a joint press conference with Adityanath. He handed over orders for release of Rs 1,263 crore to the chief minister. This includes a sum of Rs 446 crore for Lucknow Metro project, Rs 375 crore for Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Rs 482 crore for the Smart City project. After the meeting, Yogi Adityanath said his government will show results in line with the expectations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Naidu said the issues concern- ing setting up of new FM stations have been resolved. The proposal for live telecast of state assembly session has been considered and modalities for the same would be worked out soon, he said.

STATE TO PITCH IN FOR DELHI-MEERUT RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM

The state government will also provide its share for the Rs 32,000crore rapid transit system between Delhi and Meerut, he said after a meeting with M Venkaiah Naidu in Lucknow. The rapid transit system will bring down the travel time between Delhi and Meerut to an hour, Adityanath said.
