Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik said here on Friday that credibility of the media was the most important aspect in these times of fast news and stressed that journalists should pay utmost care to this.

Naik was here to release a book written by editor-in-chief of Hindi daily Hindustan Shashi Shekhar titled ‘Leek Se Hatkar’, which is a collection of essays.

On the occasion, a discussion was organised on ‘Patrakarita ki Dasha Aur Disha’. Senior TV journalist and anchor Dibang was the guest during the discussion which was conducted by noted TV journalist Ritul Joshi. Pride of Agra organised the event.

Addressing the gathering, Naik lauded Shashi Shekhar for Hindustan being declared most trustworthy newspaper in a survey conducted recently.

“’In these days of fast paced journalism, the media faces a credibility crisis and journalists should pay attention to this aspect,” Naik said, stressing the need to read editorials, a habit on the decline these days.

“I wait for Sundays to read the editorial of Shashi Shekhar in Hindustan,” he said, praising the writing skills of the editor-inchief. Shashi Shekhar recommended the book written by Governor Ram Naik titled ‘Chareyawati Chareyawati’.

“We have to trust our institution to deliver in the best possible way. It is experience which teaches us the best,” he said, narrating his journey with Hindustan which he joined in 2009.
