Over ₹23L looted from bizman’s house
Six armed miscreants clandestinely entered the house of the victim in wee hours of Monday and held the family hostage
Around half a dozen armed miscreants clandestinely entered the house of a real estate businessman in wee hours of Monday and looted cash and gold over ₹23 lakh in posh Vivek Khand locality of Gomti Nagar. Cops are suspecting the role of an insider in the dacoity as miscreants only targeted the room on the ground floor of the house where cash and jewellery was kept and did not search any other rooms on the first floor of the house.
Around half a dozen armed miscreants clandestinely entered the house of a real estate businessman in the wee hours of Monday and looted cash and gold over Rs 23 lakh in posh Vivek Khand locality, Gomti Nagar police station.
After carrying out the dacoity, miscreants fled from the house of businessman Chaman Lal Diwakar. After getting information, senior superintendent of police Deepak Kumar, SP (north) Anurag Vats, members of the forensic team reached Chaman Lal’s house along with the dog squad.
Chaman Lal stays along with his wife Sunita, three daughters Priya, Kajal, Komal and son Piyush. According to reports, at around 2am on Monday, around six armed miscreants entered Chaman Lal’s house from the terrace. Using stairs, they came down on the first floor of the house and took Priya and Kajal as hostage.
Meanwhile, on the ground floor of the house, miscreants took Chaman Lal and his wife as hostage at gun point and in the adjoining room they took Piyush and Komal as hostage . With the help of curtains and bedsheets, the miscreants tied hands and legs of all hostages.
Thereafter they targeted three rooms on ground floor of the house where almirahs were kept. Without wasting any time, the miscreants broke open the almirahs and looted Rs 3 lakh cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 20 lakhs. Before fleeing from the house, the thieves also took away four mobile phones of the family members. The entire incident lasted for about an hour.
Cops are suspecting the role of an insider in the dacoity as miscreants only targeted the room on the ground floor of the house where cash and jewellery was kept and did not search any other rooms on the first floor of the house.
Chaman Lal informed cops that he was collecting jewellery for marriage of his daughters.
During investigation, Chaman Lal also informed cops that the terrace door was left open on Sunday night by mistake. This made the job all the more easy for dacoits who entered the house from the terrace.
Family members also informed cops that the miscreants had covered their faces. They also compelled the family members to cover their faces with bed sheets. Cops are scanning CCTV footages of cameras installed in the area to identify miscreants. Apart from this, cops are also scanning call details of mobile phones and locations of some numbers.
When cops tried to interrogate servant Sadho Ram, a native of Malhaur, Lucknow, Chaman Lal told the police that he was working with the family for the past five years and was a reliable person. Some people close to the family are also on the cop’s radar.
