LUCKNOW: A day after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kapil Mishra levelled corruption charges against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday said AAP stood exposed after the development.

Talking to media persons here, Javadekar said people of Delhi had taught a lesson to AAP in the recent MCD elections.

“The party does not practice what it preaches,” he said.

Sacked Delhi minister Kapil Mishra has claimed that Kejriwal received Rs 2 crore from Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain for “political reasons”. The charges were refuted by Kejriwal’s deputy Manish Sisodia.

A day after he was removed as water and tourism minister, Mishra said everyone in the party felt there were 4-5 corrupt people around Kejriwal but they believed the AAP chief would set everything in order.

Speaking at teachers’ conference on the topic ‘New Model of Education for 21st century’ at the Gomti Nagar (campus II) branch of the City Montessori School (CMS), Javadekar said there was a need to improve public schools in the country.

He said surveys indicated that learning outcomes in government schools were bad. “A class 5 student can’t read textbooks of class 3 and a class 6 student can’t do mathematics of class 4 level. This has to be fixed quickly,” he said.

Javadekar said the accountability of government as well as private school teachers should be fixed and learning outcome should be visible.

UP’s deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, minister for basic education (independent charge) Anupama Jaiswal, state minister for basic, secondary, higher, professional and medical education Sandeep Singh and national spokesman of the BJP Sudhanshu Trivedi were special guests of honour on the occasion.

President and chief operating officer of CMS Geeta Gandhi Kingdon expressed gratitude to the teachers for their academic achievements. “Today is a great day when we are honouring our teachers,” she said.

Founder of CMS Jagdish Gandhi and co-founder and director Bharti Gandhi were also present on the occasion.
