BHOPAL: A Twenty-five-year old youth was killed after he was allegedly beaten, dragged and run over by a vehicle occupied by four men in Bhopal’s MP Nagar area . The victim, Salman Abdul, suffered serious injuries and succumbed at a city hospital on Sunday, prompting police to take action.

Two of the four accused — Shiva Patil and Rocky — have been arrested while two others are still absconding.

Police said parking issues and a scratch on the vehicle of the main accused Shiva Patil led to the incident. Shiva claims to be the district president of Rashtriya Hindu Sena, they added.

The incident took place on Saturday night when the accused Shiva Patil, Bharat Soni (brother), Chotu (friend) and Rocky (brother-in-law) visited Shanti Nagar area at MP Nagar in their Innova. Salman and Shiva both are residents of Shanti Nagar area.

According to Sohail, Salman’s younger brother, Shiva and three others came to the parking area near Sargam Talkies and damaged the windshields of nearly two dozen vehicles parked there. One of the damaged vehicles, a mini loading truck belonged to Salman. Someone informed Salman’s father Abdul Saeed on phone that their vehicle was being damaged, following which he and Sohail rushed to the parking area.

There was a heated argument between the two sides after which the four accused started beating Sohail. While this was going on, Salman reached there and tried to rescue his brother. But the accused started beating him mercilessly and he fell unconscious.

Following this, they allegedly ran over Salman, seriously injuring him and fled from the spot. Police reached the spot and rushed the injured to the hospital where Salman died on Sunday.

Devendra Narwaria, investigating officer, said the accused were drunk when they damaged the vehicles . Shiva alleged that either Sohail or Salman scratched his vehicle, which enraged him, said Narwaria.
