CMO DIRECTS PVT HOSPS TO GET REGISTERED

LUCKNOW: Chief medical officer (CMO) of Lucknow said he was looking forward to cooperatio­n from doctors and even residents to check unregister­ed hospitals and quacks.

Talking to media on Wednesday, CMO Dr GS Bajpayee urged doctors working at private hospitals to make sure the hospital they work in is registered with his office. They should also see if any of the hospital is misusing their name,” he said and added further, “In addition, those residents giving their building on rent to run a hospital should make sure the hospital is registered with the CMO office.” Dr Bajpayee said he had been getting reports of anomalies in hospitals from the public and action has been taken in the past.

Additional CMO Dr Rajendra Chaudhary said often landlords came to them when their premises were sealed for no fault of theirs. “To avoid such incidents they can first check the hospital registrati­on and other documents,” he advised. When a hospital is caught unregister­ed by the health team the premises is sealed immediatel­y as per the rules. The CMO also shared the recent survey done in the city on cleanlines­s. Dr Bajpayee said that a meeting was held with officials of the nagar nigam on the issue of garbage that is choking drains and the filth that is lying in heaps thus posing a threat. The CMO got photos clicked in over 12 such places and discussed the matter.
