Muslim women recite Hanuman Chalisa, seek end to triple talaq

VARANASI A group of Muslim women on Wednesday recited the Hanuman Chalisa 100 times at the Lord Hanuman Temple on the premises of the Patalpuri Mutt in Varanasi, seeking an end to the practice of triple talaq.

Led by Nazneen Ansari, the Muslim women who recited the Hanuman Chalisa included Taslima Bharatvans­hi, Rizwana, Shaqila, Rehana, Bilkis Begum, Seema Begum, Sahana, Gudia Qureshi and Najma Parveen. Hindu women joined them during the recital.

Ansari said, “The practice of triple talaq should come to an end.

It is believed that the chanting the Hanuman Chalisa 100 times makes wishes come true. So we chanted Hanuman Chalisa to seek an end to triple talaq which has troubled several Muslim women. We will continue our fight against triple talaq.”

She expressed confidence that Lord Hanuman will liberate Muslim women from triple talaq.

Senior RSS office bearer Indresh Kumar, along with Patalpuri Mutt chief priest Baba Balakdas, also recited the Hanuman Chalisa. Baba Balakdas extended his support to the campaign.

Kumar said the time had come to end the practice of triple talaq.

He claimed Muslim women across the country were against it and everyone should support them in their fight against triple talaq.
