Now, explore the universe at Allahabad Planetarium
ALLAHABAD: For those who are curious about the formation of the earth and nature of heavenly bodies, the Jawahar Planetarium, Allahabad, has developed a new programme in association with the European Space Agency.
The 32-minute programme titled ‘Prithvi se brahmand tak’ (from the earth to universe) provides details about the formation of the earth, galaxies, the milky way, asteroids and comets to help one differentiate between heavenly bodies.
The programme will be inaugurated next week.
This is the second programme after ‘Saur mandal ki yatra’ which is presently being shown at the planetarium. “Though the programme is for all, it has been especially designed to cater to the needs of school and college going students who curious about the earth and universe. The aim is also to develop their interest in astronomy, space and research,” said the chief of Jawaharlal Nehru Smarak Nidhi Dr Ravikiran. He said that a discount of 40 per cent would be given in tickets to students if they come in a group of 10 or above. “The objective behind the price cut is to ensure that large number of students may benefit from the show,” he said.
The tickets are priced at Rs 50. From Monday to Saturday, the planetarium holds seven shows beginning 11 am while on Sundays there are nine shows due to the crowd.
