LUCKNOW: Slow server speed troubled patients and their attendants at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on Monday.

A woman attendant slumped on the floor while standing in the OPD counter queue while many were seen sitting on the floor to avoid a fall due to intense heat in the OPD area where the counters are located.

The woman had come to get OPD slip but due to slow server speed, it took her roughly about two hours to reach the counter. By that time her condition deteriorated and she fell down. “I was waiting since the morning,” said the woman, who was helped to her feet by other women.

Her compulsion was that she could not leave the queue as this would mean she would miss her chance of getting the OPD ticket. The area where the OPD counters were working had over 500 people standing since morning and even as tickets were made, the number never came down below 400.

Hospital superintendent Dr Omkar said that the server was provided under the national health mission scheme and the hospital has no role in maintaining its speed. “I will look into the problem as slow speed is causing trouble,” he said.

While there are two counters for depositing the fee of procedures for admitted patients, there are three counters for men and four for woman. One is dedicated to hospital staff only. The counters are not enough to cater to the crowd coming here. One counter takes about two minutes to clear OPD ticket for one person and if one person has more than two forms the time taken is doubled.

On Monday, the server speed was slow that made the task of getting OPD slip difficult. A slip was pasted on the counter “Server down thora samay lagega. Kasht ke liye khed hai” (Server down, will take a little long. Inconvenience regretted).
