Prolific author Karan Vir Arora, who has written many comics and books based on Hindu mythology, never thought he would end up wielding a pen. According to him, his inning as a writer began soon after he gave a thought to his identity as a Hindu and decided to find answers to all his queries (related to Hindu mythology) that boggled his mind since childhood.

“As Hindus, we all have heard about mythology and related terminologies like Chandrahas, Bramhastra or Indus civilisation and so on. And we have often giggled, questioning their existence. I too giggled until I read NS Rajaram’s book ‘Search of Historical Krishna’,” said Arora, who was here on Monday.

This was the turning point in his life, he said, because after going through the book, he began his quest to find his own identity. “I searched and read more and more and finally in 2008, I came out with my first comic based on Indian mythology and history. So far I have successfully released 22 graphic novels that were much appreciated,” Arora told HT.

He has recently launch his book ‘Sixth: The Legend of Karna’, a masterpiece that was released after 12 years of extensive and passionate research of a forgotten era. He said the book was his first novel, story of a boy based in New York, who comes all the way to India in search of his roots. In the book, there are two different stories running parallel, which give a better connect to the present generation.

Arora, who is also CEO of Vimanika Comics and a diehard fan of Karna, said, “It’s our duty to preserve our country’s rich heritage. I appeal to youths to dig into the past to find answers to all the queries”. He said our ancestors were the most intellectual people who ever existed on earth. “They were advanced in all fields, be it in terms of science, technology or spirituality. We should learn from them and to delve into the past to find answers,” he added.

He said since India was invaded several times, the invaders tried to destroy country’s rich heritage. “And the Congress too did nothing to preserve history. Hence I appeal to the youths to save their heritage and culture and to be proud of it,” he added.
