Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq called an end to his glittering cricket career following the three-Test series tour of Pakistan.

Pakistan won the series 2-1 after a 101-run victory in the third and final Test at Windsor Park in Dominica.

Yasir Shah took a five-wicket haul as he picked the last man in the penultimate over of the final day. Roston Chase made an unbeaten 101 in excellent rearguard action.

This was also Pakistan’s first series victory in the Caribbean. The farthest they’ve gone to drawing series.

Tributes flowed in to the 42-year-old Pakistan great, as well as his 39-year-old teammate Younis Khan, who also hung up his gloves with the conclusion of the series.

LAST CHAT

The outgoing captain took to the microphone at the close of play to give a farewell speech, which he began on a spiritual note with thanks to the Almighty.

“I would like to thank Almightly Allah, whatever I had, whatever success I got throughout my career, to end like that, I couldn’t ask for anything better.

He went on to thank his family for their support, particularly his wife who asked him to play the series in West Indies before retiring, as did his national teammates.

“Then I would like to thank my family: my mother, my sisters, and especially to my wife Uzma who supported me and was always there. This series was only for her because I could have finished in Australia. She just convinced me and the fans that I have to come.”

“And this team, too, most of these players said, ‘You don’t have to end like that. You have to go winning and performing well.’,” he said.
