‘IAS officer was about to expose K’taka govt scam’

Minister for parliament­ary affairs Suresh Khanna on Thursday said family members of deceased IAS officer Anurag Tiwari (Karnataka cadre) had claimed that the officer was about to expose a scam involving thousands of crores by Karnataka’s Congress government.

Tiwari was found dead in mysterious circumstan­ces on Meera Bai Marg in Hazratganj area here on Wednesday.

Speaking in the state assembly, where the IAS officer’s death found echo during question hour, Khanna said the cause of the officer’s death was not clear.

The state government had got a post mortem examinatio­n conducted by a panel of four doctors, he said and added: “As the cause of death was yet to be ascertaine­d the viscera has been preserved.” The state government would, however, find the truth behind the death of Tiwari, he said.

Earlier, the Samajwadi Party, the BSP and the Congress staged a walk out in the assembly after raising questions over the law and order situation in the state. The SP and the Congress members entered the well of the house, saying the officer had been ‘murdered’ in the VVIP area near the state guest house, situated about a km from the assembly.

SP member Nitin Agarwal said the officer’s death had exposed the tall claims of state government on the law and order situation.

Speaker Hridaya Narain Dixit said no obstructio­n should be caused during the question hour and tried to persuade members to take their seats. He then asked leader of the opposition Ram Govind Chaudhary to ask his party members to take their seats.

BSP leader Lalji Verma said the state government was not ready to listen to issues being raised in house. Then, SP and Congress members staged a walk out raising questions over the law and order situation. Soon, BSP members also staged a walk out.
