12yrold alleges van driver, aide raped her on school premises

A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her van driver and his aide on her school premises in Naka area here.

The girl, a class 7 student of a school in Naka’s Rajendra Nagar locality, has alleged that the duo raped her, after holding her captive in a school room, when school got over around a week ago.

Investigators are, however, suspicious about the girl’s allegations as no such evidence was found in video footage of nine CCTV cameras installed at the school gate and its premises.

The police have, meanwhile, taken the van driver Mohd Zuber into custody and were interrogating him.

Superintendent of police (West) Jai Prakash said an FIR was registered with Naka police station under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 364-D of gang rape and 3/4 protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) Act.

He said the girl alleged that the incident took place on May 12 when her school van driver reached late to pick her.

“She said the driver and his accomplice, an e-rickshaw driver, held her hostage in a room on the school premises and sexually assaulted her,” Prakash said.

The girl was regularly attending classes since then, but did not inform anyone. She suddenly came up with the allegation on Thursday, he added.

The SP said the girl’s medical examination was conducted and the report was awaited. He said a police team will be sent to the school to examine the crime scene.

Earlier on May 12, three staffers of a private school in Lucknow’s Vrindavan Colony, including a woman, were arrested over alleged sexual exploitation of a five-year-old girl on the school premises.

The girl’s mother had lodged an FIR on May 10, alleging that the crime had been going on for six months.

The arrested persons included the school principal’s driver Vikas Singh, accounts office staffer Mohd Irfan and a maid Seema.
