The chief minister’s home turf, Gorakhpur is no different in terms of law and order. March 15: Four days before Yogi Adityanath took oath, a cash van carrying Rs 98 lakh was looted at Sahjanwa when it was on way to a bank after collecting cash from a petrol pump. Later, cops cracked the case and arrested the cash van employees for plotting the loot.

March 23: A GRP inspector, Tarun Pandey was arrested on charges of eve-teasing a woman passenger on board the Awadh Express.

April1: Former village head Dashrath Yadav was shot at by unidentifi­ed goons in Gola.

April 10: Police found the charred body of a jeweler, Nitin Aggarwal in his car at Sahjanwa Earlier, the media reported that the jeweller was burnt alive in his car by miscreants. But later, working out the case on the CM’s

directive, police termed Nitin’s death as a suicide case.

April 14: A local man killed his wife by slitting her throat before committing suicide in Harpur. The accused was arrested.

April 24: A man Vivek was murdered by his wife Sushma who executed the crime with the help of her paramour Dablu. The woman was arrested by police.

May 11: Three days before the CM’s visit, a local trader Chandra Prakash Tebriwal was shot dead by four unidentifi­ed bike-borne miscreants while he was on his way home after closing his shop in Deeewan Bazaar.

May 16: A Muslim couple in Deoria was beheaded by a youth who was arrested the next day. Illicit relation between the accused and the woman was stated to be the reason behind the murder.
