Alarmed after the mysterious death of senior IAS officer, the Lucknow police has initiated the process to strengthen security measures at government guest houses in the city.

The move came after police did not find any eyewitness or CCTV footage of the stretch near the state guest house on Meera Bai Marg where IAS officer Anurag Tiwari was found lying dead on roadside. The police are facing difficulty in establishing the entire sequence of events in its absence.

SSP Deepak Kumar said the city police will send a recommendation to the state estate department authorities to enhance security measures at all government guest houses. He said the authorities will be suggested to instal CCTV cameras at least at the entrance and exit points. Deployment of security guards and proper maintenance of visitor’s register are also some of the things in the pipeline.

To recall, IAS officer Anurag Tiwari was found dead on his birthday on Wednesday morning under mysterious circumstances on Meera Bai Marg barely 10 metres from the state guest house where he was staying with his batch mate Prabhu Narain Singh for the last three days.

Tiwari, a resident of Bahraich, was the commissioner of food civil supplies and consumer affairs department in Bengaluru.

Tiwari and Singh had come to Lucknow after attending a midcareer training programme at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie few days ago.
