Shikshamitras get giant hike in honorarium
The project approval board of union ministry of human resource development (MHRD) has doubled the honorarium paid to over 31,000 part-time instructors working in the state government-run schools across Uttar Pradesh. Now these instructors of upper primary schools will receive ₹ 17,000 per month instead of ₹8,470.
The board has also hiked the honorarium for 26,000 shikshamitras in the state by more-than-double from ₹ 3,500 to ₹10,000 per month.
The raise has been approved by the project approval board of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan functioning under the MHRD in its meeting held at the national capital on April 13-14, 2017.
The meeting was attended by secretary (basic education), UP Ajay Kumar Singh and the state project director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, UP Vedpati Mishra.
The hikes have come following personal intervention of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath after a delegation of these instructors met him at Lucknow on April 6 following rejection of hike proposal by MHRD in its meeting on March 27. Following CM’s intervention, the proposal was re-considered by the body and finally approved.
This hike was a long pending demand of these instructors hired by Akhilesh Yadav-led SP government in 2012-13. The order benefits around 31000 part-time instructors including 10,947 of arts education, 11,405 of health and physical education and another 8,597 of work education.
These instructors are employed in government-run upper primary schools which have 100 or more students.
The shikshamitras on the other hand have been demanding their adjustment against vacant posts of assistant teachers for the past quite some time and had even staged demonstrations all over the state including Lucknow.
