Vaishnavi to meet Ananya in final

LUCKNOW:Maharashtr­a’s Vaishnavi Adkar caused yet another upset on Thursday and made it to the girls singles final of the Shashank Shekhar Singh Memorial AITA Championsh­ip Series, defeating third seed Ananya Yadav of West Bengal 6-2, 6-1.

At the Vijayantkh­and stadium, fourth seed Mekhala Manna too upset second see Advancy Goldsmith 6-3, 6-0. This, however, brought curtains down for UP’s challenge in the category.

In the boys singles, top seed Vaibhav Singh Bisht of UP and the second seed Kanav Goel of West Bengal made it to the final, notching up contrastin­g wins. Vaibhav defeated Maan Kesarwani of UP 6-0, 6-1, whereas Kanav had to struggle against UP’s Shubhendra Bhadauria before winning by 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
